Tsanavi Spoonhunter
Tsanavi Spoonhunter (2021) is a director and producer. She is a descendant of the Northern Paiute and citizen of the Northern Arapaho Tribe. Most of her storytelling has centered on Indian Country. In 2020, Spoonhunter earned her master’s degree from the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley with a focus in documentary filmmaking. Her award-winning documentary short, “Crow Country: Our Right to Food Sovereignty,” is currently screening at festivals and select venues. As a Native American reporter and filmmaker, Spoonhunter tells stories about her community.
As a Logan Nonfiction fellow, Tsanavi will work on her documentary “Holder of the Sky,” which focuses on the intersection of race, identity and tension between white and Indigenous neighbors told through the lens of land rights.
