Robin Shulman Agüeros
Robin Shulman Agüeros is a freelance journalist based in New York City. Her work has appeared on WNYC/New York Public Radio, and in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Guardian and other publications. A previous book, “Eat the City,” traces the history of seven different basic foods produced in New York City — meat, fish, vegetables, wine, beer, honey and sugar — and shows how food production shaped the cities we know today. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University, and master ‘ s degrees in journalism from the University of California at Berkeley and Near Eastern Studies from New York University.
As a fellow, Robin will work on the book “Reborn: One Refugee Family, Two Countries, and the Human Connections that Changed Lives,” that shows how refugees have different experiences in Canada and the United States. It is about a Syrian sister and brother fleeing war and being separately resettled in Des Moines, Iowa and Toronto, Canada.
