Rachel Jones
Rachel Jones (’21) is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in Time magazine, Columbia Journalism Review, The Delacorte Review, Scientific American, The Antigonish Review, The New Quarterly and many other publications. She holds a Master of Science from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Art from Lewis & Clark College. Rachel has traveled extensively, and spent one and a half years as a correspondent for The Associated Press in Caracas, Venezuela. More recently, she has been exploring a longstanding interest in death and dying as a staff writer for SevenPonds, a website and online magazine that reports on a wide array of issues related to end of life. Rachel regularly serves as a judge for NYC Midnight’s Short Story Contests, and is the recipient of a Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship and an Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholarship.
As a fellow, Rachel will work on “Grief on the Frontlines: Doctors, Nurses, and Healthcare Workers Speak Out on the Invisible Wounds They Carry ” (North Atlantic Books), a book that takes a searing look at the longstanding impact of grief and trauma in the U.S. medical profession.
