Isabel Coles
Isabel Coles is an award-winning British journalist with a decade of experience reporting from the Middle East for Reuters and The Wall Street Journal. Her career in journalism emerged from an interest in the Middle East and its languages. Beginning with the outbreak of the Arab Spring uprisings, her work has tracked the upheavals across the region since then, from the early hopes for political change through the darker chapters of Islamic State group’s takeover in Iraq and Syria, followed by the grueling U.S.-backed military campaign against the organization and its messy aftermath.
As a Logan fellow, Isabel will work on a book about the fate of thousands of children born to men and women who flocked to Syria from all over the world to join the Islamic State group.
