Inara Chayamiti
Inara Chayamiti (2021) is a Japanese-Brazilian documentary filmmaker based in the Netherlands. Her works include “Raam,” which won the SHIFT Film Festival Audience Award and also screened at CineSud; “Yzalú – Rap, Feminism and Blackness,” a CineB Solar winner; and “Volta na Quadra,” winner of the NETLABTV Audience Award and sponsored by Folha de S. Paulo. Inara’s production company has worked with many companies and organizations, such as Greenpeace, Marie Claire and Google. Inara also produced, filmed and directed the Brazilian stories for the Riot Games’ international documentary series, “Legends Rising,” during two seasons. She started her career as a video journalist at Folha de S. Paulo, the largest Brazilian newspaper, and at the publishing companies Globo and Abril. She received her degree in Social Communication and Journalism from the State University of Londrina in Brazil, studied documentary filmmaking at UnionDocs in New York, and has a specialized degree in cinema and video from Anhembi Morumbi University in Sao Paulo.
As a fellow, Inara will work on the film “Where is Nihon?”, which tells the story of her Japanese-Brazilian family’s migrant saga. The film was a finalist for a grant from the Sundance Documentary Fund 2021.
