Cheryl Upshaw
Cheryl Upshaw (2021) is a writer and journalist based in the western U.S. She is the former managing editor of The Humboldt Sun, Lovelock Review-Miner and The Battle Mountain Bugle. Her journalistic work has focused primarily on local governments and intimate features. Upshaw’s work has been published in The Seattle Times, The New York Times and The Rumpus. Upshaw is also working on a memoir and several fictional works.
As a Logan Nonfiction Program fellow, Cheryl will work alongside Jillian Farmer on the podcast ”50-Foot Woman,” chronicling Jillian’s experience with acromegaly, a very rare pituitary disease. The podcast shines a light on the misunderstood disease and Jillian’s struggles to navigate the U.S. healthcare system.
