Alejandra Vasquez
Alejandra Vasquez (2020) is a Mexican-American documentary filmmaker and producer from rural West Texas. Most recently, she co-directed a multimedia piece about a competitive high school mariachi team on the US-Mexico border for Pop-Up Magazine. As a series producer for Topic Studios, she released the four-part “Night Shift” and the 10-part series “Eating.” She has worked on the award-winning feature films “Matangi/Maya/M.I.A.” (2018), winner of the Sundance Special Jury Prize, and “Us Kids” (2020), that premiered at Sundance 2020 and earned the Kathleen Bryan Edwards Award for Human Rights at Full Frame. Her work focuses on the lives of immigrants and activists. She is currently completing a film about her hometown in West Texas with support from the International Women’s Media Foundation.
As Logan Nonfiction Program fellow, Alejandra will work alongside Sam Osborn on a film about a postman servicing the bordertowns of West Texas.
